MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Chef Andrea Nicholson and Maple Leaf Foods have partnered to create Canadian-inspired recipes for this year’s Food Day Canada celebrations on July 30.

“We are so excited to celebrate the diverse yet distinct cuisine of Canada,” says Nicholson. “We’re also proud to partner with more than 2,000 pork and poultry farmers across Canada who work hard every day raising animals responsibly.”

Food Day Canada is an annual celebration conceived by University of Guelph Food Laureate, Anita Stewart, in 2003 in support of farmers whose livelihoods had been affected by the Mad Cow crisis. Today, it celebrates Canada’s farmers, fishermen, chefs, researchers and home cooks.

“Food Day Canada is a movement,” says Stewart. “Great food inspires great collaboration and conversation. It’s our way of rallying all Canadians to create awareness of the power and creativity Canadian food can foster for our country and internationally.”
