MINNETONKA, Minn. — Digi International — a global provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) products and services — has acquired Smart Temps. Smart Temps offers real-time foodservice temperature management for restaurants, grocery stores and the education and hospital sectors of the foodservice industry. Its products are also used in pharmacies, blood banks and laboratory environments. The company has more than 50 years of experience providing wireless temperature management for the foodservice industry.

“In addition to strengthening our leadership position in the foodservice industry, this acquisition provides Digi with a strategic entry point into the education and healthcare markets,” says Ron Konezny, president and CEO, Digi International. “Our objective is to identify the best ideas and technologies across our cold-chain portfolio to bring the most advanced solutions to market.”

Digi’s Smart Temps purchase marks the company’s third acquisition in 15 months, establishing itself as a leader in the cold-chain industry. Smart Temp technology will continue to be supported as it gets integrated into Digi’s existing products and services.

“Our two companies together will bring industry-leading technology to market, so our customers can be assured of the highest level of safety for their food and healthcare monitoring,” says John Miller, CEO of Smart Temps. “We are excited to be part of Digi’s growing leadership in temperature monitoring and look forward to continuing to expand our service offerings.”
