WHISTLER, B.C. — It’s shaping up to be a good year at Araxi, which just enjoyed hosting Olympic fans and is now celebrating an award nomination for executive chef, James Walt’s cookbook, Araxi: Seasonal Recipes from the Celebrated Whistler Restaurant.

On Monday, the book was nominated for a James Beard Foundation Award, in the Cooking from a Professional Point of View category, alongside Momofuku by David Chang and Peter Meehan and The Fundamental Techniques of Classic Pastry Arts by The French Culinary Institute with Judith Choate.

“I’sm proud to receive this nomination,” said Walt, three-time guest chef at the James Beard House in New York City. “It’s a pleasure to be recognized amongst those I admire and I wish David Chang, Peter Meehan, Judith Choate and all of the other nominees the very best.”

Other nominees in the book category include: Ad Hoc at Home by Thomas Keller in the General Cooking category, My New Orleans by John Besh in the American Cooking category and Baking by James Peterson in the Baking and Dessert category. Winners will be feted in early May in New York City.
