TORONTO — ArKay Beverages, a collection of alcohol-free spirits, is now being distributed in Canada through PremiumNearBeer.com. The collection includes, whisky, rum, vodka, amaretto and more, with 15 varieties, which have zero calories and are certified-halal.
The products have not been fermented or aged in a wooden cask and are made to mimic the taste of their alcoholic counterpart, catering to anyone who doesn’t drink alcohol for personal or religious reasons.
PremiumNearBeer.com was born of necessity, explains Ted Fleming, founder of the Toronto-based company. “In 2005, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness that ultimately led me to accept that I needed to eliminate alcohol from my diet. I started drinking the non-alcoholic beer available in grocery stores, bars and restaurants but quickly became frustrated by the lack of options and bored of the similar tastes,” he said. “That’s when I became determined to find premium quality non-alcoholic beer with great taste and in a variety of styles, including lagers, wheat beers, dark brews and more.”
The products can be delivered anywhere in Canada, but it’s unclear if they will be available to the foodservice industry.
