A&W Canada Donates $5 Million to University of Saskatchewan

SASKATOON — A&W Food Services of Canada Inc. has committed $5 million to the University of Saskatchewan’s Livestock and Forage Centre of Excellence (LFCE), according to Saskatoon StarPhoenix.

The LFCE is a new complex being built near Clavet, Sask., which will feature field laboratories that model all aspects of raising livestock on the Canadian Prairies, as well as science labs that to support translational and applied research.

The centre — set to open in March — will accommodate approximately 2,000 head of cattle over the course of the year.

The donation from A&W will be used to fund the construction of the $3-million Livestock and Food Building at the LFCE site, create a million-dollar community outreach and engagement program, and establish a million-dollar visiting fellowship in One Health research.
