B.C. and Yukon Franchisees Raise $530,849 on McHappy Day

VANCOUVER — McDonald’s restaurants in B.C. and the Yukon raised $530,849 on the annual McHappy Day — a 40-per-cent increase over 2016 and the most successful to date. The funds will support the Ronald McDonald House Charities network of programs in B.C., which helps thousands of families each year through its Ronald McDonald Houses and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms.

Founded 40 years ago, McHappy Day — the McDonald’s chain’s largest one-day fundraising event of the year — donates $1 from every Big Mac, Happy Meal and hot McCafé beverage sold to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

“Ronald McDonald House keeps families close while their sick child is undergoing treatment in Vancouver,” says Richard Pass, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities, British Columbia & Yukon. “We are overwhelmed and extremely thankful to the public for their ongoing support in this campaign year after year and to our partners: McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada and our B.C. owner/operators and their crews, who put in tremendous effort to make sure this year was the most successful yet.”
