Bacardi-150-Anniversary

HAMILTON, Bermuda — Feb. 4 marked Bacardi’s 150th year in business and a series of celebrations that included star-studded parties and a Bacardi family reunion.

“This is an extraordinary milestone to celebrate as the passion and entrepreneurial spirit shown by my great-great grandfather in Santiago de Cuba a century and a half ago gave birth to exceptional rum that changed the spirits industry forever,” said Facundo L. Bacardi, chairman of Bacardi Limited.

Many parties were thrown in honour of the liquor company. Rolling Stone magazine hosted a bash in Indianapolis, featuring musical guests such as LMFAO and Gym Class Heroes; Condé Nast hosted a star-studded New York party, and the Celebrity Summit cruise hosted a Bacardi party on the sea, which departed for Puerto Rico, the birthplace of the iconic brand.

In Puerto Rico, 600 members of the Bacardi family gathered to unveil a sculpture of founder Don Facundo Bacardi Masso. At the reunion, Puerto Rico Governor Luis G. Fortuno declared Feb. 4 Bacardi Day.
