Battle of the Vegemite

MELBOURNE – Kraft Foods Inc. is re-launching an initiative to re-name a new and milder version of their famous spread Vegemite. When iSnack2.0 was revealed as the food’s new name on Sept. 26, internet backlash from the Australian market ensued, prompting the company to create a new list of names. Now voters can choose between Cheesybite, Creamymate, Smooth, Snackmate, Vegemate and Vegemild. The winning name will be announced Oct. 7.

Update: And the winner is: Vegemite Cheesybite. The new name will appear on bottles of the Australian favourite in coming months. To find out more about the new name, and how it came about, click here.
