CCFCC Toronto Branch Launches the Toronto Pizza Championship

TORONTO—The Toronto Pizza Championship launched yesterday and is set to become an annual event. The event was hosted by The Canadian Culinary Federation “CCFCC” Toronto Branch with partners ItalianaFoodTech, The School of Italian Pizza and Sysco.

Competitors were required to make two classic pizzas and two creative pizzas with thin crust in 40 minutes. The winners were:

•    1st place: Maurizio Mascioli, owner of Maurizio’s Pizzeriain in Parry Sound, Ont. Maurizio will now represent Canada and the CCFCC Toronto Branch at the International Pizza Championship in Bucharest, Romania March 4 to 6, 2017.
•    2nd place: Khrystyna Collins,manager of Applestone Pizzeria.
•    3rd place:Alin Gavril,executive chef, Delta Toronto East Hotel.

Each winner received a Pizza Peel Made in Italy sponsored by ItalianaFoodTech and a Neapolitan Pizza Course sponsored by The School of Italian Pizza.

Other finalists included Joseph Leroux, owner, Amadio’s Pizza;Greg Howie, Culinary Arts instructor, Humber College; and Matthew Ritchie, owner, Country Catering.
