Chef Neal Noble Dies

TORONTO — Neal Noble passed away Feb. 28 at Rouge Valley Health System due to complications from an infection, and liver failure.

Born in Fort Frances, Ont., Noble became an influential force in the culinary community perfecting his craft at various hotels including the Sutton Place and the Metropolitan Hotel Toronto where he quickly progressed to corporate executive chef, overseeing all food operations in the company’s hotels in Toronto, Washington and Vancouver. During his long career, the graduate of Malaspina College in B.C. received two invitations to the prestigious James Beard House and won six gold medals in various culinary competitions. He also cooked for Pope John Paul II and the Prime Minister of Canada.

Noble leaves his wife Gwen and son Kyle, who continues his father’s legacy by running the catering company Nobel founded, Noble Culinary. A memorial service will be held for Noble on Monday, March 14 at Peace Lutheran Church in Pickering, Ont.
