Chef’s Plate Announces $2 Million in New Funding

TORONTO — Toronto-based start-up Chef’s Plate has received $2 million in financing, led by Emil Capital Partners with participation from BrandProject LP and existing investors. In less than a year the company has grown its workforce to more than 50 employees and has been experiencing double-digit growth week-over-week since its inception.

“When we started Chef’s Plate, our vision was to make delicious, nutritious and affordable meals at home more accessible and get Canadians back into their kitchens,” said Jamie Shea, co-founder of Chef’s Plate. “We’re excited by how quickly Canadians have taken to Chef’s Plate; we receive requests all the time from people who want us to expand into their cities across the country. This new funding will allow us to do just that.”

Chef’s Plate will use its new funding to expand nationally, with plans to build two new fulfillment centres in Canada’s east and west coasts — creating hundreds of new jobs within the next year and making Chef’s Plate accessible across the country.
