According to Clearwater spokeswoman Christine Penney, the Clark’s Harbour site was closed to “concentrate operators at the Richmond County site, which can store 1.6-million pounds of live lobster,” reports The ChronicleHerald.ca.
“The business needs to restructure to be competitive globally,” Penney told the ChronicleHerald.ca.
The 21 laid-off workers are being given severance packages; some are being offered work at another plant.
