VANCOUVER — Granville Island’s casual-fine-dining restaurant, Dockside Restaurant, has appointed Craig Ludtke as its new brewmaster for the company’s in-house brewing program, according to Canadian Beer News.

Ludtke began working with the Dockside team as bar manager in 2010, after working at Spinnakers Brewpub in Victoria. He also worked as an apprentice and assistant brewer in the Dockside brewery, while completing his Cicerone certification.

Since accepting the role of brewmaster, Ludtke has modified the recipes for Dockside’s core beer line-up, including Marina Light Lager, Johnston Pilsner, Cartwright Pale Ale, Railspur IPA, Old Bridge Dark Lager and Pelican Bay Brown Porter. He has also launched two seasonal beers for spring and summer — Strawberry Blonde, a light golden lager blended with B.C. strawberries; and Smoked Honey Lager, a red lager brewed with B.C. honey and a hint of smoked malt.
