MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Toronto’s The Burger’s Priest is set to expand across Canada, thanks to a newly formed partnership with Mississauga, Ont.-based Extreme Brandz, confirms Alex Rechichi, president and CEO in a telephone call to Foodservice and Hospitality magazine.

“It’s an amazing concept that I think has the ability to connect with a real cult following,” raves Rechichi. “It already has that in Toronto, and our goal is not to water that down at all, but do an exact replication of what he’s done in Toronto in other markets.”

Owned by Shant Mardirosian, The Burger’s Priest has two locations in Toronto. It serves fresh, American-style hamburgers made with a custom grind of beef, with options such as the Holy Smokes Burger, a double cheeseburger topped with panko-crusted deep-fried jalapeños or the Vatican City, a double cheeseburger sandwiched between two grilled-cheese buns.

“Our goal is to focus on growing The Burger’s Priest concept, not through franchising, right now, but mostly through corporate-driven restaurants. We might look at small joint ventures with operating partners, but our focus is to have a corporate growth model,” Rechichi explains.

The partners expect to open another four to five units in and around the Greater Toronto Area during the next 16 months.
