Food Safety Leaders Recognized at Safe Food Canada Symposium

BRAMPTON, Ont. — Canadian food-safety leaders were recognized recently as part of the second-annual Food Safety Recognition Awards, held at the Safe Food Canada 2014 symposium at the Pearson Convention Centre in Brampton, Ont.

The Food Safety Leadership Award, which recognizes an individual who drives food-safety excellence within a company and inspires others through their passion and actions, was presented to Randy Huffman, chief food safety officer and SVP, Six Sigma and Quality, Maple Leaf Foods Inc.

The Food Safety Excellence Award, which is given to a company with a proven commitment, from the senior level management down to performance and continuous improvement in supply chain management and facility conditions, was presented to Oland Brewery in Halifax, with the runner-up being Tim Hortons.

Finally, the Allied Trades Food Safety Award, which awards a company that supports the food-and- beverage industry, was presented to Sealed Air – Food Care, Ontario, with the runner-up being TrainCan Inc., a sister company to Kostuch Media Ltd.
