La Rocca Earns BRC Global Standard

TORONTO — La Rocca Creative Cakes has been awarded the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety, one of the standards approved by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

Believed to be the first independently owned dessert manufacturer in North America to achieve this Certification, the Woodbridge, Ont.-based La Rocca successfully completed a three-day audit and received the highest rating of an “A” for its manufacturing practices and food-safety standards.

“For 25 years, we’ve had incredibly high quality, production and safety standards,” Michael Givens, president and co-founder of the dessert manufacturer was quoted as saying in the Simcoe, Ont.-based Bakers Journal. “Now, that we’ve been recognized by the GFSI, our valued customers can be reassured by our certification and continue to rely on La Rocca to meet this Global Standard.”
