The Luxury Collection Releases New Cookbook and Custom Spice Blends

STAMFORD, Conn. — The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Inc., released Epicurean Journeys, a hardcover collection of recipes by the brand’s chefs around the world.

The limited-edition book includes a set of five custom spices created by Lior Lev Sercarz, owner of La Boîte, a biscuits and spice shop in New York City. “Each of the blends is inspired by the explorers that played a pivotal role in the history of the spice trade — transporting new flavours to curious palates and paving the way for travellers to dream of faraway places,” said the owner of La Boîte.

Marco is a blend inspired by Marco Polo’s voyage through the Malacca Strait and the Indian Ocean; Magellan is inspired by the varied curries of Asia and the explorer who introduced these flavours to the Western world; Colombo is a tribute to one of world history’s most fortuitous accidents; Vasco celebrates Vasco da Gama’s monumental voyage, which opened the wealth of India; and Veneti is a tribute to Venice, the crossroads of the Eastern spice trade.

In addition to recipes Epicurean Journeys also features passages from singer Jamie Cullum, food critic Ruth Reichl and model Helena Christensen, among others.
The book is available at Assouline boutiques around the world and at luxurycollection.com/assouline. It retails for US$150.
