McDonald’s Canada Introduces Heart-Shaped Cookies

TORONTO — McDonald’s customers will now be able to support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) through the chain’s new heart-shaped RMHC Cookies. The new menu item was inspired by the many volunteers and families who have been baking cookies at Ronald McDonald Houses for more than 30 years.

The RMHC Cookies come in three flavours — Chocolate Chunk, Lil’ Gem and Chocolate Caramel — and will be served in boxes highlighting 13 different RMHC families. Available at participating locations, a portion of the proceeds from every cookie sold will go directly to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

“The RMHC Cookie is shaped like a heart because RMHC is the heart of McDonald’s,” says Anne Parks, director of Menu Management, McCafé. “It was very important to us that real RMHC families and volunteers shared the experience of creating this cookie with us and we’re happy to have a new menu item to support them that holds such meaning and is baked with love.”

To celebrate the launch, Ronald McDonald Houses in Toronto and Montreal will host bake-off events today, which will feature celebrity pastry chef Anna Olson in Toronto and former football player Étienne Boulay in Montreal.
