Michaël Cotard Named 2015 Canadian Chocolate Master

MONTREAL ― Michaël Cotard, chef and owner of Cotard Chocolatier in Saint-Sauveur, Que., was selected as the 2015 Canadian Chocolate Master at the 2014-2015 World Chocolate Masters competition held recently at the Chocolate Academy Centre in Montreal.

Cotard has participated in several competitions, including the Canadian qualifying round for the 2013 World Chocolate Masters, during which he won the award for best layered chocolate cake. He also finished second at the Canadian qualifying round in Toronto for the 2011 World Chocolate Masters.

Christophe Bonzon, chef/chocolatier at Chez Christophe Pâtisserie Chocolaterie in Burnaby, B.C.; and Christophe Sportellini, head of production at Maison Christian Faure in Montreal, placed second and third respectively.

The World Chocolate Masters is an international competition dedicated to the art of chocolate. The contest is open to chocolate professionals around the world. The winners of each national selection will represent their country at the international final, which will be held Oct. 28 to 30 at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris.
