Michelin-star Chef Pino Cuttaia to Host Dinner at Buca

TORONTO —Pino Cuttaia, chef of two Michelin-star restaurant La Madia in Sicily, is the newest toque to host a dinner as part of the Sotto una buona stella (Under a Lucky Star) dinner series. The series is presented by The King Street Food Company, the Consulate General of Italy, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura and the Italian Trade Commission in partnership with George Brown College’s Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts.

During Cuttaia’s four-day trip in Toronto, the chef will lead a class at George Brown College’s Chef School, give a lecture on his book Per le Scale di Sicilia – Profumi, Sapori, Racconti, Memoria, and host a special six-course dinner with Rob Gentile, chef, The King Street Food Company at Buca Osteria & Bar in Yorkville on Feb. 4.

“Chef Cuttaia and I share a passion for the rich traditions of Italian cooking and for interpreting the recipes and methods of Italy in ways that both celebrate the past and offer something new for today’s culinary audience,” said Gentile. “I am excited to welcome him to Toronto and to collaborate with him at Buca Osteria & Bar.”

Sotto una buona stella is a six-part series showcasing and celebrating Italy’s rich culinary patrimony by bringing six of Italy’s top chefs with Michelin-star rating to Toronto. In 2015 the series featured dinners by chef Massimo Bottura, chef Andrea Berton and chef Ernesto Iaccarino.
