Norway Chef Wins Bocuse d’Or

LYON, France — Chef Ørjan Johannessen from Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri in Norway was crowned the winner of Bocuse d’Or, while Philip Tessier from The French Laundry in California took second place and Tommy Myllymäki from the restaurant Spira-Sjön-N.E.O.-Julita Wärdshus in Sweden took third place.

The top 10 countries were Norway, the U.S.A., Sweden, Finland, Japan, Denmark, France, Iceland, Netherlands and the U.K. Canada came in 21st place.

Other special prizes were awarded, including the Special Fish Prize, which went to Japan’s Hideki Takayama; the Special Meat Prize, which went to Finland’s Matti Jämsén; Best Promotional Campaign, which went to Argentina chef Emiliano Javier Schobert; and Best Poster, which went to Hungary’s Gabor Molnar.
