MONTREAL — Vietnamese-style sandwich shop Bánh Mì Bánh Yiu has opened in Montreal’s Mile End district. The new restaurant serves Vietnamese fillings on French-style baguettes — a culinary by-product of French colonialism in Vietnam, which features pâté, cold cuts, carrot, cucumber, white radishes and cilantro.
The eatery offers both classic Vietnamese pork and chicken sandwiches, as well as some fusion options, such as satay chicken and avocado pâté. Other items on the menu include soup-and-salad options and Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk.
All sandwiches are priced at $6 and soups cost $3, with tax included. The restaurant’s house salad is $4 for a small and $7 for a large.
