TORONTO — OnDeck has named Ottawa-based Grounded Kitchen & Coffeehouse the OnDeck Small Business of the Month for February, 2018. This marks the first time that a Canadian business has earned this award.
Grounded Kitchen & Coffeehouse — owned by Amir Rahim — is a bistro in Ottawa’s Centretown district that offers made-from-scratch cuisine and features a unique coffee bar. In its eight years of operation, Grounded has expanded to nearly double its original size and now features a seasonal street-side terrace for dining.
“Amir is a dynamic restaurateur who worked tirelessly to create one of Ottawa’s favourite restaurants. He is exactly the type of passionate entrepreneur that we set out to help when we launched OnDeck’s Canadian operations in 2014,” says Andrea Gellert, chief Revenue officer, OnDeck. “Launching and growing a small business requires dedication, hard work and capital. Amir pulled all those things together to make his dream come true and now, Ottawa residents are the beneficiaries of delectable dining at Grounded.”
