Pizza Hut to Expand

TORONTO — Pizza Hut is on the hunt for new franchisees with plans to open 100 new Canadian sites in five years, according to the Toronto Star.

Now that the brand has a smaller footprint, faster equipment and new products to tout, the minimum cash requirements per franchisee is $150,000, with assets of $500,000, Sabir Sami, the company’s Canada president told the newspaper.

“The expansion, while it is quite aggressive, it still is healthy expansion,” Sami told the Star. “We have been consistent in results.”

Pizza Hut, which is owned by the Kentucky-based Yum Brands, currently has more than 300 delivery and dine-in stores in Canada.
