Following a recent makeover, The Quartier des Spectacles restaurant Le Balmoral has reopened as Blumenthal — named after a men’s clothing store the location once housed. As part of the overhaul, chef Remi Brunelle, Sarah Bergeron and Nic Urli were brought on board to help establish the venue as a local hot-spot. Located on the ground floor of the Maison du Festival, the 200-seat Le Blumenthal is a joint venture between a group of restaurateurs and Spectra. Their goal was to create a non-profit establishment whose surpluses will be used to finance free events at the Maison des Festival and the jazz fest. The menu features appetizers such as kale Caesar salad, salmon tartare and a duck poutine. Dinner includes roasted lamb sirloin with a side of chickpea-covered baba ganoush, fiddleheads and black garlic sauce.
