Restaurant Buzz: Microbrasserie À la Fût

Saint-Tite, Que.-based Microbrasserie À la Fût has opened a new location in Montreal. Following an announcement on the business’ website back in January, its made quick work of converting the space where local watering hole Boîte à Marius once stood.

After a decade of slinging suds at the site of the much-loved Festival Western de Saint-Tite, this microbrewery transplanted a hearty slice of its cowboy kitsch and its selection of brews to Montreal’s eastern neighbourhood. The outpost boasts 160 seats, with a terrace that will seat an additional 60 guests.

The Montreal location is the result of a collaboration between the original microbrewery and members from LAB Comptoir à Cocktails, Fabien Maillard, Gabrielle F. Panaccio and Gabriel Ranger Touzin.

In addition to the 40 varieties of brew it will be delivering from its home base — including selections that range from run-of-the-mill blondes and IPAs to craftier options like oak-aged batches — À la Fût also offers cocktails and much of its original location’s menu. Snacks such as rabbit pogos and fried cheese curds (cutely named ‘gold nuggets’) are available alongside heartier plates of pub grub, including trout and chips, stacked burgers, tartares and sandwiches.
