Restaurant Buzz: Vin Mon Lapin

0

Major players from famed Montreal restaurant Joe Beef opened up Little Italy wine bar Mon Lapin in March. And, while chef-owner Marc-Olivier Frappier, sommelier Vanya Filipovic, with the original trio of David McMillan, Allison Cunningham and Fred Morin should have no problem filling any room with diners, this nook is their most petite venue yet.

As reported when it opened, there’s just 35 seats in the corner spot on St-Zotique East and Casgrain — a handful at the bar and most in leather booths and banquettes around the room. Diners can pick from an ever-shifting menu of around 15 dishes. A scroll through Instagram reveals some of the early dishes that have been offered — the menu puts classical influences into new, hearty creations, such as a “pink salad” with shaved foie gras; tripe and bean cacio e pepe; a buckwheat cake; and frozen yogurt with iced pumpkin seeds and honeyberry (camerise) sorbet.
