Saskatoon Hosts Food-Truck Festival

SASKATOON — The weather may have been cooling down in Saskatoon this past weekend, but thousands of foodies gathered in the city’s River Landing neighbourhood to sample snacks from 15 mobile food vendors, during the inaugural YXE Street Food Festival.

Saskatoon’s first-ever food truck festival came about a year after food trucks were approved in the city. Mobile restaurants such as Disco Dogs, Pineapple Express, Drift Cycle, Schryer’s BBQ and Rebel Melt pulled in to serve the masses, while nine local bands, including Parab Poet & the Hip Hop Hippies and Charly Hustle entertained the crowd. “We just love the food, and we’re hoping to build the culture,” organizer Chad Reynolds told CBC News in June.

Organizers told Global News they are already planning more food-truck events for next season.
