TORONTO — SIR Corp.’s concepts have taken over the corner of Yonge and Gerrard Streets in Toronto, first with Reds Midtown Tavern, and now with a new outpost of the Muskoka, Ont.-based concept, Duke’s Refresher + Bar.

The 158-seat restaurant, split into two floors, offers a loud, rowdy bar experience complemented by casual, farmhouse-style furniture. And, with 40 beers on tap, regulars can become a member of a special Einstein club, which displays their personal beer stein behind the bar.

“At Duke’s Refresher + Bar, we encourage our guests to guiltlessly kick back, take some time out and let loose, while enjoying delicious food. We’re thrilled to bring Duke’s Refresher to Yonge and Gerrard and look forward to introducing the neighbourhood to our ‘unapologetically different’ attitude,” said Jay Burrows, GM.

With the kitchen helmed by chef Tim Tutton, the casual menu features shareable plates such as seared tuna tacos on a warm corn tortilla, with gingered red-cabbage slaw, smoky salsa roja, crema piquante and cilantro ($9.25); burgers, such as the Le French Laundry, made with Truffle mayo, dijon mustard, blue cheese, caramelized onion and arugula ($12.95); and breakfast-style poutine, with crispy fries, sausage, bacon, pulled-pork, gravy, cheese curds, two eggs and TJ sauce ($9.25).
