Vancouver Magazine Names Restaurant Awards Winners

VANCOUVER — David Hawksworth’s culinary influence is being recognized again this year in Vancouver magazine’s 24th annual Restaurant Awards.

For the second consecutive year, Hawksworth Restaurant was named Best Restaurant and Best Upscale Restaurant, while Hawksworth was named Best Chef again. Wildebeest won in the Best New Restaurant category.

Robert “H” Holl-Allen, of Jules Bistro, was named Bartender of the Year, while returning 2011 champion Thomas Haas, of Thomas Haas Chocolates Vancouver, won in the Pastry Chef category. Alain Rayé, chef/proprietor of La Régalade was honoured with the magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Miradoro Restaurant at Tinhorn Creek Vineyards was named Best Winery/Vineyard Dining for the second consecutive year. “We are truly honoured and proud to be named ‘sBest Winery/Vineyard Dining’ for the second year running,” said Manuel Ferreira, co-owner of Miradoro. “This award recognizes excellence, and reflects the talents and the tireless dedication of chef Jeff Van Geest and our entire team in our goal to create an exceptional and authentic all-round dining experience.” [vanmag.com]
