TORONTO — Executive chef John McKee unveiled the restaurant’s 25th-anniversary menu last night at Wayne Gretzky’s Toronto. The new menu, featuring “25 of the best items you’ve ever tasted” included fun, quirky takes on the bar food the iconic Toronto establishment is known for.

The invitation-only dinner for media and social-media influencers began with sharing platters featuring Buffalo cauliflower, nachos, sweet-potato fries, handmade guacamole and Pullman Loaf garlic bread. Gretsky’s Smokehouse BBQ Ribs were next on the menu, served with a side of barbecue pork and beans and slathered with house-made barbecue sauce.

Guests were then treated to The Cheeseburger Fries — a combination of Yukon Gold and pickle fries —topped with queso-cheese sauce, ground beef, burger sauce and house-made smoked-tomato ketchup.

Adam Watkowski, general manager, Wayne Gretzky’s Toronto, joked that when you come to Wayne Gretzky’s, you “aren’t counting calories.” The restaurant’s signature hand-crafted chicken fingers, with spicy sauce and classic coleslaw, finished off the savory portion of the meal. Dessert was a decadent slice of Mile-High Chocolate Fudge Cake with Sweet-and-Salty Corn Balls.

Guests were invited to explore the newly renovated restaurant and touch Gretzky memorabilia normally kept behind glass.

“[The restaurant] has been committed to greatness for 25 years,” said Tom Bitove, managing partner, Wayne Gretzky’s Toronto. “The bar is set high but our staff has always exceeded it with great service and good, clean food.”
