ZA Pizzeria Launches Chef-Inspired Menu

TORONTO — ZA Pizzeria in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood is kicking off 2016 with a new monthly menu celebrating its one-year anniversary.

Co-owners and newlyweds Jason and Lisa Costantini have developed their own, unconventional way of cooking pizza — an indoor grill barbecue. The ovens run at 750 degrees and cooks pizza in under three minutes with a signature smokey flavour.

“When we first started a year ago, we wanted to bring something cool and exciting to Toronto’s food scene,” says Lisa Costantini. “Thanks to the innovative way in which we make pizza and our constantly evolving menu, we’ve been able to take a classic and put a flavourful new spin on it.”

The monthly Chef’s Creation menu ($16 to $18) is inspired by the season’s top ingredients and includes a beet and goat cheese pizza made with golden beets, buffalo mozzarella, goat cheese, arugula, candied walnuts and balsamic reduction; the Potato and Leek made with rosemary potatoes, onion cream, braised leeks, mozzarella, parmesan and piave cheeses; and the Mushroom and Ricotta, made with sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions and vegan almond ricotta. The company’s Classic menu ($9 to $15) includes Margherita, pepperoni, and the Funghi pizza made with porcini cream, mozzarella, goat cheese and sautéed mushrooms.
