KITCHENER, Ont. — Flanagan Foodservice is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for its new distribution centre in Whitby, Ont.

The ceremony — taking place October 25 — will be attended by a representative from the office of Celina Caesar-Chavannes, Member of Parliament for Whitby; a representative from the office of Lorne Coe, Member of Provincial Parliament for Whitby; Mayor Don Mitchell, Town of Whitby; Whitby Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, staff and ambassadors; members of the press; and Flanagan employees.

“Purchasing the Whitby site is a key pillar in our expansion plans and aligns with our strategy to grow our foodservice distribution business by providing flexible, responsive service to restaurant operators in Ontario,” says Dan Flanagan, president and CEO of Flanagan Foodservice.

The new distribution centre is slated to open in spring of 2017, following the completion of renovations and upgrades. The new facility is expected to provide more than 100 employment opportunities for the Whitby area.
