Duke of York Turns 40

TORONTO — The Duke of York pub in Toronto recently celebrated its 40th birthday. Located in The Annex, the Duke of York has a special place in Toronto’s history as it was the first British pub in the city.

The establishment celebrated this milestone with live music, cake, giveaways and, of course, beer. The festivities were also an opportunity to give back, with the Duke of York donating one dollar for every glass of beer sold between 11 a.m. and 1 a.m. on Sept. 29 to the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Canada – Ontario. The money will help ensure this youth-development program remains accessible and barrier-free to all young people, including at-risk youth and youth living in low socio-economic situations.
