Canada Shines at Culinary Olympics

ERFURT, Germany — The final results of the IKA/Culinary Olympics have been announced in an awards ceremony for both National and Junior National Teams.

In national overall results, the team from Singapore claimed top honours, followed by Finland and Switzerland respectively. Sweden was the top-performing team in the Junior National competition, followed by junior teams from Switzerland and Norway.

Though they did not finish among the top-three teams, Culinary Team Canada and Junior Culinary Team Canada both had strong performances throughout the competition. The national team garnered medal finishes in each of it competitions, including a gold medal in the Hot Kitchen competition, another gold for its culinary arts cold-table display and a silver in pastry arts cold-table display. The junior team will bring home some hardware of its own, having earned a gold medal for its performance in the Edible Buffet and a silver in the Hot Kitchen competition.

Medals for each competition were awarded based on the teams’ scores. Teams receive gold for a score of 90 or higher, silver for 80 or higher, and bronze for 70 or higher.
