CALL FOR 2020 NOMINATIONS: The Top 30 Under 30
Deadline: January 17, 2019
NOMINATIONS FOR TOP 30 UNDER 30 NOW OPEN
Do you know an outstanding individual who should be considered for a Top-30-under-30 award? If so, be sure to take the time to nominate them for this prestigious award that recognizes initiative, leadership and excellence. By taking the time to do so, you are helping us to highlight and promote excellence in the foodservice and hospitality industry. The Top 30 recognition program was established in 2006 by the Ontario Hostelry Institute to recognize young professionals in Ontario who have made an outstanding contribution early in their professional careers. This program is forever indebted to J. Charles Grieco (pictured below), one of the co-founders of the Top 30 Under 30 whose vision helped shape it.
We’re proud to now have the Top 30 under 30 as a part of Kostuch Media’s portfolio.
The Awards reflect KML’s mandate to provide educational support and programs for future generations to succeed. They promote self-esteem and pride for young professionals and provide exemplary role models for young professionals forging careers in the foodservice and hospitality industry.
• Work in the foodservice and hospitality industry across Canada;
• Demonstrate outstanding achievement;
• Be between the ages of 18 and 30.
Please consider candidates in the following categories:
- Restaurant Operations
- Casinos, Stadiums, Retirement Living
- Others related to the hospitality field
Any person may nominate an eligible individual for the Top-30-Under 30 Awards.
The candidate being nominated should be currently working in the industry in Canada for a minimum of three (3) years, is planning to continue to work in the industry and is under the age of 30 as of December of the year prior to winning (2019).
The nominee must be aware they’re being nominated as they will be required to provide a portfolio in order to be considered. It is extremely important the candidate’s contact information is correct, particularly their email address.
Communication with the nominee is done by email ONLY.
Each of the persons nominated will be contacted by KML in early January to confirm their nomination and receive instructions regarding their submission of a ‘hard copy’ portfolio.
The portfolio must contain the following:
- A CV/résumé
- A minimum of two letters of recommendation
- A recent high-resolution colour head and shoulder photograph
- Any other academic and career awards
The portfolio must be bound (no loose papers). Please provide copies only as the portfolio will not be returned to the owner by KML.
The deadline for the portfolio submission is the end of January. Portfolios will not be accepted by email. The candidate will be reminded to submit their portfolio. The nominator will be copied on the reminder emails. KML encourages the nominators to help their candidates put together their portfolio.
ONLY completed portfolios will be considered. If the candidate would like their portfolio returned, they will have to make arrangements to pick it up from the KML office as KML cannot undertake the expense of returning individual portfolios.
Judging of the Top 30 Under 30 nominations is done in mid-March and winners and nominators will be notified immediately thereafter before a public announcement is made. The jury for the Top 30 under 30 awards is comprised up 20 to 25 members representing a large spectrum of the industry, including past Top-30-under-30 winners who represent a range of positions in the industry across Canada. The selection is based on 10 criteria categories of which the best five marks are selected.
The Top 30 Under 30 Award Ceremony will be held in Toronto on April 21, 2020. The winning candidates will be honoured and presented with their certificate and pin. Winners will have the opportunity to network with past awardees and be able to join the Top-30-Under-30 Alumni and Mentoring Program.
