CALGARY — The Canadian comfort food scene is expanding in Calgary, with the opening of 80th and Ivy, a new resto on 17th Avenue.

Owners George and Ari Haralabakos and Ernie Tsu, of Group 933 Hospitality, converted an adult video store into the new 130-seat space, which features a large patio, indoor bar and dining area with an open kitchen.

Helmed by executive chef Ryan Campeau, and corporate chef Dallas Suttie, the Canadian comfort food with an upscale twist, is inspired by local food and served in sharing dishes. It includes fare such as a Bami Goreng sharing bowl with ground Broek Acres pork, bacon lardon, bami noodle and Alberta cabbage ($13) and Duck Two Ways with crispy duck croquettes, oven-roasted pear and local Acadia honey pastille ($14).
