A new entry in the chicken-sandwich wars

Almost every restaurant has its own signature Fried Chicken Sandwich that is the talk of the town. The chicken-sandwich wars will continue, as cost-conscious consumers continue to look for less-expensive entrée items without sacrificing the quality of the dining experience.

Circana reports that overall chicken sandwich sales (grilled, wraps, fried) have shown a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 21 per cent over the last five years. In 2023 alone, overall chicken sandwich sales grew eight per cent, with full service showing the strongest growth at 11 per cent.

Savvy operators are developing more “robust” chicken programs, including the addition of increasingly popular hot and spicy options. In response, Reuven has introduced new players to the field: Buttermilk and Hot & Spicy Breaded Chicken Breasts. At a hefty five ounces, this is the largest fully cooked offering of its kind in the foodservice market.

Reuven Breaded Chicken Breasts deliver an irresistible combination of flavours that are on trend with consumers. And because they come fully cooked and individually quick frozen, they maintain a consistent shape and weight, says chef David Cocker, director – Culinary Innovation & Marketing at Reuven International Ltd. “Ensuring that every bite your patrons take is filled with 100 per cent chicken goodness, leaving no room for disappointment. With just a five-minute retherm from frozen, you can count on consistent quality and flavor every time.”
