TORONTO — It’s that time of year, and the 2013 predictions for global, Canadian and local culinary trends are being discussed in the culinary world. In fact, according to a recent Canadian Press video report with Alison Fryer, owner of the Cookbook Store in Toronto, global cuisine will once again have its place on the menu.
“A lot of Middle Eastern cuisine, including Arabian,” will be popular in 2013. “Lots of vegetables, lots of robust flavour,” she told CP. She added: “We can now move on from quinoa — we want to see other ancient grains.”
Fryer predicts consumer tastes will be influenced by the World Cup taking place in Brazil in 2014.
