NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Cookery and competitions were the backbone of four days of hands-on workshops, seminars, demonstrations and a 42-company tradeshow held at the Conference Centre Niagara Falls (N.Y.) and the Niagara County Community College, Sanborn, N.Y., at The American Culinary Federation’s (ACF) Northeast Regional Conference.

The event, which was hosted by the ACF Greater Buffalo New York chapter and attracted some 500 delegates, is one of four regional ACF events held each year. More than 25 chefs, students and chapters were presented with awards, which means many toques are now moving on to compete against their regional counterparts at the 2012 ACF National Convention in Orlando, Fla., from July 14 to 17.

The Florida-based American Culinary Federation, Inc., was established in 1929. ACF offers training, apprenticeships, programmatic accreditation and the Certified Executive Chef designation — the only culinary credential accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
