WINNIPEG — McDonald’s first pilot in its sustainable beef program is said to feature Canadian beef, reports Alberta Farmer Express.
“It is still in the preliminary stages, so there are a lot of details to be worked out, but everyone is on the same page,” Greg Bowie, chair of Alberta Beef Producers and a CRSB member told Alberta Farmer Express. “They’re working with industry to come up with something that is sustainable long term, for the entire industry.”
Six months ago, the Oak Brook, Ill.-based chain announced plans to begin using verified sustainable beef by 2016. [albertafarmexpress.ca]
