BENTON CITY, Wash. — Vancouver-based Aquilini Investment Group is preparing to build a wine-production facility and tasting room in the Red Mountain American Viticultural Area (AVA).

The Aquilini Red Mountain Vineyards, a subsidiary of the parent company, will be a 170,000-sq.-ft. facility and will include a tasting room, as well as a home for the owners. The company intends to grade 17 acres for growth.

Red Mountain AVA is one of the smallest but most productive wine-grape growing areas in Washington. The Aquilini Investment Group has owned the property since winning a bidding war in 2013.

The company also owns the NHL Vancouver Canucks and the city’s Rogers Arena, golf clubs, the Toptable Group of restaurants and 48 Pizza Hut locations throughout B.C.
