Aroma Espresso Bar Launches New Spring Menu

TORONTO — Aroma Espresso Bar is spicing up its spring menu, starting April 18, with a Harissa Tuna Sandwich and an option to add Spirulina (a natural algae powder) to select drinks.

The new sandwich ($6.95) features a hearty spread of harissa — a traditional hot chili spread associated with Tunisia and the surrounding region. The sandwich is stuffed with albacore tuna, hard-boiled egg, tomato, red onion and pickle and served on a hearth-baked soft sesame and semolina bun, with Kalamata olives on the side.

“We’ve been experimenting with incorporating harissa and found it’s the perfect complement to this Tunisian-inspired dish,” says Neil Creighton, director of Food and Beverage at Aroma Espresso Bar Canada. “It’s a natural fit with our menu offering and as the ingredient continues to grow in popularity, we’re excited for our customers to be exposed to it as part of the Harissa Tuna Sandwich.”

The Spirulina shots ($1.95), available for a limited time to add to an Ice Lemon Mint or any real-fruit smoothie or fruit juice, are rich in natural nutrients, vitamins and minerals and especially high in iron.

“Spirulina is rich in antioxidants, natural vitamins and minerals — an excellent nutritious value-add to your drink,” says Creighton. “It will definitely turn your drink green though, so be prepared for a few funny looks.”

Other items on the spring menu include: the Warm Grilled Chicken Salad with roasted garlic, eggplant and roasted red pepper ($8.65) and the Ice Lemon Mint, an Aroma signature slush made with fresh mint and ice blended with lemonade ($4.25 for a medium).
