VANCOUVER — Ask for Luigi cleaned up last night during Vancouver Magazine’s 26th Annual Restaurant Awards, earning the Restaurant of the Year, Best Casual Restaurant, Best New Restaurant and Best Italian Casual awards.
Other winners included Hawksworth Restaurant (Best Upscale); Vikram Vij (Chef of the Year); Bryant Mao (Sommelier of the Year); Thomas Haas (Pastry Chef of the Year); Tacofino Commissary (Best of the Americas); Cactus Club Cafe (Best Casual Chain); Bao Bei Chinese Brasserie (Best Chinese Casual and Best Gastown/Chinatown); Revolver Coffee (Best Coffeehouse); and Au Comptoir (Best New Design).
Lauren Mote earned the Bartender of the Year Award while Ned Bell and Chefs for Oceans took home the Green Award. Vancouver Island Salt Co. won the Producer/Supplier of the Year award.
David Aisenstat, chairman, president, CEO and director of The Keg, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
