TORONTO — This year’s bi-annual Bakery Showcase, Canada’s only baking industry trade show and conference, runs from May 1 to 3 at Toronto’s International Centre.

Approximately 5,000 baking industry professionals are expected to take part in education programs, lectures from industry professionals and B2B programs aimed at inspiring new industry partnerships.
Lecturers include Globe and Mail columnist Leslie Beck, director of McGill University’s Office of Science and Society, Dr. Joe Schwarcz and consumer studies professional Harry Lloyd.

New this year is a Knowledge Centre created to spur support for the industry’s push for bakers and to encourage businesses to embrace nutritious products and ingredients.
“The Bakery Showcase keeps innovating and attracting more people every year,” says Paul Hetherington, president and CEO, The Baking Association of Canada (BAC). “There are many new and exciting speakers this year and there will be plenty for people to see and experience.”

A State of the Industry panel will explore how the baking industry in Canada and the U.S. are adjusting to consumers’ and governments’ food and nutrition challenges and industry vendors will set up shop throughout the 100,000-sq.-ft. venue to showcase the latest baking-related technology and products on the market.
