VANCOUVER, B.C. — The Canadian foodservice industry will be abuzz this weekend at the annual B.C. Foodservice Expo, which will run from Jan. 27 to 28 at the Vancouver Convention Centre West.

Aside from showroom exhibits, chef competitions will abound at the show. To start, 12 professional chefs will vie for the title of B.C. Chef of the Year, creating a dish from black-box ingredients.

The winning chef will advance to Edmonton for the Canadian Culinary Federation (CCFCC) convention in June. Additionally, 10 chefs will compete for the title of B.C. Chinese Chef of the Year and 30 up-and-coming cooks will face-off in the 17th annual Hot Competition.

Off the showroom floor, seminars and presentations will cover topics such as industry and consumer trends as well as environmental sustainability, and the show will also feature speakers such as chefs Rob Feenie, Chuck Currie and John Bishop.
