SURREY, B.C. — British Columbia’s Grandview Corners Shopping Mall in South Surrey has become the home of the newest De Dutch Pannekoek House. The opening marks the first of several more scheduled for 2010.

“We are so pleased to start the string of this year’s new restaurant openings with our new location in the South Surrey area, which is a young, vibrant community experiencing positive and steady growth,” said Bill Waring, the company’s president. The location is headed by franchisee Michelle Kendall, who managed the company’s Strawberry Hill, Surrey location.

Kendall’s been busy since the official opening in February. “The process of opening a new restaurant has been challenging with a lot of hard work and long hours but the whole De Dutch team and system provided a foundation of support, guidance and encouragement all along the way that has given me confidence as a new businesswoman to go all the way with this new venture,” she said.

The new location features 60 seats inside, plus 12 on the patio. It’s open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. With 19 locations in B.C.’s Lower Mainland, the company’s next opening is scheduled for the spring.
