TORONTO — Boulart Inc., an artisanal bread producer in Lachine, Que. recently acquired non-GMO project verified status for its premium breads.

Boulart produces baguettes, demi-baguettes, miche and rolls out of its 125,000 sq.-ft. facility. Using a fully automated process, loaves are fully baked before being flash-frozen, giving the products a long-lasting shelf life. Boulart supplies retail, restaurants and small specialty shops.

“Boulart is committed to constantly changing the game so the consumer never has to settle,” said Michel Saillant, company founder. “From day one my vision for Boulart has been about challenging the status quo and bringing authentic artisan bread to the mainstream market without compromise. It’s never been about conforming to industry standards — it’s been about setting new ones.”

The Non-GMO Project is a third-party verification system for non-GMO food and products in North America, which has since certified more than 27,000 products.
