BP’s Treliving to Co-star in New CBC Series

TORONTO — Jim Treliving, entrepreneurial restaurateur, chairman and owner of Boston Pizza International Inc., will co-star in CBC’s new business reality series, The Big Decision, which premieres tonight, March. 12.

In each episode, Treliving and Arlene Dickinson — a marketing communications entrepreneur and CEO of Toronto’s Venture Communications —  will visit a struggling business and decide if they will make a personal investment to save the company.

Jim Treliving’s 40-year career began after joining the RCMP at the age of 19. Nine years later, in 1968, he left the RCMP to open his first restaurant in Penticton, B.C. More than 350 restaurants later, his diversified portfolio, along with his partner George Melville, includes: T&M Management Services Ltd., Boston Pizza International, Boston Pizza Royalties Income Fund, Boston’s The Gourmet Pizza, Kitchen Partners Ltd., Mr. Lube, Global Entertainment Corp., S&T Holdings Inc., White Rock Commercial, The Naramata Benchlands and the brand LIVE. Treliving is the founding director of the Boston Pizza Foundation, which has raised more than $12.1 million for Canadian charities; he is also the director and vice-chairman of the Hockey Canada Foundation.

The Big Decision will air Mondays at 9 p.m. on CBC.
