BEIJING — Dairy Queen’s launch of a new Beijing location today, Sept. 30, was augmented by a visit from Warren Buffett, renowned investor, philanthropist and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway.
“We are proud to welcome Mr. Buffett to our new Joy City DQ store to experience his favourite DQ treats in Beijing,” said Marvin Hung, CEO of Hop Hing Food Group. “With this opening, Hop Hing Franchise now operates 100 Dairy Queen locations in Beijing and Northern China. The Dairy Queen system’s growth opportunities continue to be tremendous throughout the country.”
The American Dairy Queen Corporation, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway and is based in Minneapolis, Minn., operates almost 6,000 restaurants worldwide, with more than 700 units located in 17 countries outside of North America. There are 300 DQ stores in China, with plans to add 200 more by the end of 2011.
